Have you heard the one about the guy who died upon a cross?
Or the one who said he split the moon and rode to heaven on a horse?
Some say you die but but you're born again on the same day that you leave
It sounds like make believe
Each tells you they're the only truth and lend a guiding hand
And if you don't believe them they'll tell you that you're damned
They can offer you some comfort when you are bereaved
But it's only make believe.
The one that you'll believe in is chosen for you when you're born
And if you change it later Hell awaits you so they warn
They'll sell you a place in paradise for when you cease to breathe
But it's only make believe
They all tell different stories. They all have different ways
To the Power and the Glory and it's theirs alone (each says).
Some of them say killing other people is justified
If it helps disseminate their fables far and wide
It's better if the world percieves the same way they perceive
Even if it's make believe
If you believe in fairy tales don't be in any doubt
The ones with different stories would love to wipe you out
They say it in their prayers from Pakistan to Tel Aviv
And it's all just make believe
You've got your god you don't believe in other gods I guess
So… like me you are an infidel, I just believe one less
Ramadan and Hannukah. Diwali, Christmas Eve:
It's all just make believe.
